Celebrating Aged Care Employee Day: Supporting Those Who Care for Others

Held annually on 7 August, Aged Care Employee Day is a national day of appreciation for those who support the millions of older adults in aged care, retirement living and seniors housing.

From personal care workers and nurses to hospitality teams, lifestyle coordinators, cleaners and more, these individuals are an essential part of helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community feel safe, supported and connected.

Aged Care Employee Day is about recognising everyone involved in the journey of care, not only those in clinical roles, but also the many people working behind-the-scenes to create welcoming and high quality environments. From frontline care to logistical and operational support, each contribution makes a difference.

According to the Australian Government, there are around 456,000 aged care workers across the country*, spanning both direct and indirect care roles. Whether preparing meals, organising activities, assisting with daily tasks or maintaining clean and comfortable spaces, each person contributes to the health, wellbeing and dignity of our ageing population.

The Heart of Aged Care

Caring for older adults is deeply personal, often complex and emotionally rich. Through their work, many aged care employees build deep relationships with our older loved ones. Whether it’s remembering the small details that bring comfort or simply making time for a conversation, these everyday acts are the foundation of meaningful resident experiences.

Their dedication to what is both a rewarding and often demanding profession is what sets them apart.

Supporting those who care for others

As we celebrate Aged Care Employee Day, we acknowledge and thank every person working in aged care. Your commitment makes a lasting impact, not only on the lives of older adults, but also on their families, friends and wider communities.

We’re proud to support those who dedicate themselves to the care of others, by helping create stronger and more connected residential community experiences.
